SAUCE model

I quite liked this model . SAUCE
1. Setting task - learners ask the how, what, when, where, why and who drawing on prior knowledge.
2. Acquire information - a number of steps.
3. Use information - This requires use of higher thinking skills.
4. Communication- clear, creative communication.
5. Evaluation-product and process with more emphasis on process.

The more I read the more I learn.

Quest

I like the idea of the way the info is presented in Quest. The links were useful and it presented good background reading on IL models.

Kuhlthau

Have reread Linda Langford's article information literacy -a clarification. I like what Kuhlthau has to say when she affirms that to be literate involves the ability to construct knowledge with a view to learning throughout a lifetime as well as recognizing when information is required. The learner is empowered to learn independently and interdependently.
Candy also sees the attainment of education as a lifelong goal.
Owen also supports this idea but takes it further by saying that it should be the key competence for individual and societal development in Aust .
The responsibility for the Tl is huge.
Working together to bring this about will remain a major challenge.

What am I doing?

I am struggling to get started on the next assignment . Hopefully I'll get a clear go tomorrow and actually decide which of the three models I will work with. The critical evaluation has me a little concerned. I am still trying to finish a library diploma course I started last year as well. It's not difficult but is quite time consuming. To add to the time shortage I will travel to Melbourne again this week (for the fourth time in three months) to see my brother who is very ill.
Time to stop for today and play with the grandchildren

reading

I have been reading with interest some of the discussion on the iquiry into school libraries that has been posted on Oz Lit. It will be interesting to see the end result. Will there be TLs to staff new BER libraries?
Have started getting into module 4 (have had some family issues to deal with so am a bit behind). The AASL article was well worth reading as it was more up to date and had positive feedback from classroom teachers on the benefits of working with the TL.
The Big Six keeps coming up in different articles I read.

OZTL_net

OZTL is a great listserv. I have read some helpful info. Was very impressed to see mention of the Courier Mail articles posted there this week. I really liked Karen Brooks reply especially for primary schools. If we can't instill a love of books, imagination, stories and language nothing else will happen without a lot of work.
